Be Blown Away at the Hurricane Festival in Germany

There’s a storm coming – make sure you’re part of it. The Hurricane Festival is a three-day event that has ripped through the Eichenring, a speedway race track, in  Scheeßel, Germany, since 1997. It’s pronounced “”SHAY-suhl”, by the way.

What’s the Storm?

Hurricane is the sister festival of Southside fest. Or the other way round. And attracting over 80,000 pairs of feet annually, it’s also one of the largest music festival in Germany. You can expect to hear the best of rock, alternative pop and electro-funk from international fame, as well as up-and-coming talents.

This music, food and camping event was incepted in 1997. Since then, some of the biggest names of the genres have headlined at this motorcycle track 70 km from Hamburg. Included in these were the Beastie Boys, Marilyn Manson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Radiohead, the Foo Fighters, Rammstein, Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, and Linkin Park.

Accommodation and Food

However, you’ll need your Hurricane Festival pass in order to camp. Bring your tent, trailer, VW wagon, or RV. Peek at the camping FAQ for the lowdown on what is required of your camping wheels.

A variety of food vendors offers finger-licking options all the way through to veggie and vegan. And it won’t be Germany without the social lubrication of several cups of beer at the bars! There are even seats set up, so you can kick back and indulge between sets.
